A good sleep has been somewhat elusive lately, which is making my concentration for anything plummet.
I’ve been very slowly watching the new Foundation series on Apple TV. I’ve been a fan of these books since I was 14 when I first read them. I’ve read them, quite literally, dozens of times since then – all seven of them. I know them all by heart. So I knew when somebody finally succeeded in making the TV show, I had to go into it with an open mind, because it’d never quite live up to what was in my head. I’m not sure if I failed to go into it with an open mind, or if it’s just so vastly different from the books.
They don’t feel like Foundation to me. There’s too many elements that are so philosophically different from the books, that the two don’t quite equate in my mind.
Having said that, I do love Jared Harris as Hari Seldon. Although Jared Harris can do no wrong in my mind.
I wonder what Isaac Asimov would think of these adaptions.
